Level up your Musicality with Song Catching: Curating Soundtracks and Recording
Weekly online live Song Catching Zoom sessions with musician and producer Jamie Black, MA, BI, NCC For youth ages 15+ and adults who want to sharpen their musical skills, learn the art of composing music from scratch, and produce soundtracks for shadow puppet visuals. ***This is not for beginner musicians, and it's not for people who don't want to learn online. Ongoing 1 hour sessions, weekly or biweekly, focused on building music skills, composing new soundtrack scores, and relishing in the art of recording. Current Story: Curating Cleaner Waters We have a 12 minute piece that needs a soundtrack. Join us to finish it so we can produce it and help prevent trash from ending up in the ocean. More to the story: #curatingcleanerwaters Learn, practice, and gain feedback from the comfort of your own home, with your instrument, in live online sessions with me and other learning musicians. Group size: up to 8 people. About the Producer, Jamie Black I've been curating music and performance for over 20 years across an array of skills and talents, let's just call it multi-media. With a desire to offer online learning, I'm inviting you to this new playform, where you show up online with your instrument, and we play back and forth at each other until a sound comes out that we all want. We begin with the soundtrack for Curating Cleaner Waters, a project that's grown over the past few years. The intention is that the final recording will be used to educate, motivate, and help eliminate trash from the ocean. Why are we doing this? Because we can... AND because we know too much, and we have to do something for the Earth. Why not enjoy the journey and drive change through creative and imaginative play. I go by HummingBard for a number of reason, the rhythm is in my bones: guitar, piano, bodhrán drum, flatfoot rhythm dancing, trumpet, baritone tuba, any rhythm instrument, and singing. With professional training at a young age in reading music, and years of experience teaching it, I invite you to let go of a formal style of musicality and sync into the feeling, the vibe, the essence, and the quest.
