~ A Global Outdoor Gathering to Connect Before you log on, step outside your door and grab one small thing. A leaf, a stone, a feather, a bit of moss, whatever catches your eye, it must be native to the land you are on. ~ ~ ~ A thread in all the conversations I have had in the past couple of weeks is an opportunity to connect and share stories, so here we go. ....................................... When I asked "What brought you here?" Folks said: "I run a home child care in Oklahoma. We spend most of our time outdoors either in the playscaped backyard I have created or in local state parks, farms and ranches. We visit zoos and botanical gardens. I am very passionate about getting children outside and love to learn as much as I can where I can. I also try to share my passion back to my community so those around me can learn." ~ Careese Hallett from Oklahoma "I’m been working on being a outdoor educator for a couple years now and been looking to find more opportunities to learn and grow" ~ Karrie DeMerchant from New Brunswick @ Carleton North Early Learning Centre ......................................... Well then, will you join us on Zoom for an hour of fun connection with outdoor leaders from around the world.? We'll go around, hold up our objects, and first... Allow 3 guesses of what it is Then... share a small story: what it is, where it's from, and one thing it's taught us about the land we live, work and play on. In 30 seconds you'll be holding volcanic rock from one coastline, sea glass from another, a maple leaf from a forest thousands of miles away. It's a simple way to remember how wide and varied this work is, and how much we share underneath it. No prep required. No expertise needed. Just bring yourself, and something small the earth handed you this morning. Come curious. Come ready to swap stories. "Always striving for improvement." "Trying to introduce better practice." I even had one person say "Sorry I couldn't make it to your webinar, I literally just got out of a hole in the ground."
