Luthier Taught, Appalachian Mtn. Dulcimer Making Class
Welcome to our class which uploads on December 7th, 2025, at 8pm central time. in this class you will learn to build an Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer similar to the one in the photo. No experience is needed, but basic hand tools are, such as a miter box and saw, a hammer, small Phillip's screwdriver, electric drill and a few bits, wood glue and sandpaper and a box cutter. You can purchase from me, the needed tuners, strings, fret wire, and bridge, cheaper than you can from an online retailer. A printable line drawing with dimensions, and a tool, parts and wood list is provided so you only need to make one trip to the lumber store of your choice. all wood and tools you need can be purchased through your local lumber store or a big box store inexpensively. The average cost to build your Dulcimer is around 100.00$ plus the cost of the course! If you would prefer to purchase one of our Dulcimer kits to assemble, let us know and we will get it out to you right away, it includes everything you need to build your Mtn. Dulcimer except, tools and glue. Please take the time to introduce yourself, send a picture of your workspace, even if it's your kitchen table. How many of you know the definition of the word LUTHIER? Hint. it is what you will be doing in this class! I hope to see and hear from you all during our weekly Q&A sessions which will begin in January of 2026 via a zoom link.
