Calm and connected
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about the reality of living with an anxious or reactive dog. We spend so much time focusing on their triggers, their threshold, and their training, but we rarely talk about what it does to ourselves. I’d also love to just open the floor to the mindset side of this. Often, the hardest part isn't the training itself; it’s the: Isolation: Feeling like you can’t go to the park or walk the local trails anymore. Hyper-vigilance: That constant "scanning" for other dogs or triggers every time you step outside. Comparison: Watching others have a "relaxed" experience while you’re managing a meltdown. Mental Fatigue: Just feeling exhausted by the emotional weight of it all. Anxiety, can cause anxiety, can cause anxiety. It will bounce between handler and dog. Perhaps this is something you've experienced. Learning proper communication in canines is the first step in helping solve these issues. Have you ever lived with an anxious or reactive pup? Let's talk about it!
