From Ai to COO!

I walked in for a volunteer position.

Just hoping to build toward facilitating workshops one day.But after showing them a tool I built for their volunteer program…I walked out as COO over programming for a nonprofit organization.

Let me say that again.

COO. What????

I actually told them, “I’m still in school.”

The president looked at me and said something I will never forget:

“I’ve been watching you for the past few years. And I was hoping one day you would come talk to me.”

Then she said, “We’ll give you all the flexibility you need to finish your training. But we already know you’re qualified.”

Those words hit somewhere deep.

Because I know what it feels like to wonder if anyone sees you. Feeling like you’re being overlooked because you’re not qualified based on their beliefs. If all the years, all the work, all the quiet growth… even registered. Thirty years of experience has to count for something, right?

And here I am still sitting with it like… did I just walk out with something I wasn’t supposed to have?

The founder kept telling me, “You don’t realize how big this is yet. But I’m going to help you see it.”

Honestly? That excites me and scares me at the same time.

But I’m buckling up. Sleeves rolled. Ready.

I didn’t get here by accident.

And as I write this, I’m on my way to an artist reception where my work has been hanging at the Statehouse for the past year. Looks like I’ll be making more visits than I planned for my new job.

I couldn’t let this day pass without sharing the news with you all. Every bit of training, every coaching session, every hard season brought me to this moment.
