Welcome to Digital Gemology 💎 Start here
Welcome! I'm Cultro, founder of Digital Gemology. This community is for anyone curious about how gemstones actually work. Why does one diamond blaze with light while another goes dark in the middle? Why does an old mine cut look so different from a modern brilliant? How does a cutter decide on an angle? You don't need to be a jeweller or want to become one. Curiosity is enough. How this started: someone emailed me after studying the moissanite cuts on my site. He wanted to become a cutter. I gave him access to my cut library, and that pulled me into designing and sharing cutting files myself. Digital Gemology grew out of that: a place to learn what I wish someone had explained to me clearly. Start learning in the Classroom • From the four Cs to the bow-tie effect to cutting mechanics • The History of the Brilliant, from the old single cut to today's precision cuts Free tools at digitalgemology.com • 3D Gemstone Simulator, with a loupe and UV view • Cut Performance Wheel • Hearts & Arrows Scope More on the way: new courses, plus behind the scenes on our house cuts as we design and test them. Everything is built around what I actually work with: my own cut designs, performance tests and tools. For now, the whole community is free. Know someone who'd love this? Bring them along. Your first step: introduce yourself in the comments. 1. Where are you from? 2. Which stone or cut got you hooked? 3. What's one thing about gems you've never quite understood? I read every reply, and your questions decide what we build next.
