🧼 Do You Struggle to Keep Your Workspace Clean?
Dog daycares can get dirty fast - especially in wet weather! 🌧️ here in the UK we have a lot of rain this time of year and it created so much mud! Between muddy paws, wet towels and constant movement, it can feel like no matter how often you clean, the mess builds back up just as quickly. But keeping your daycare tidy isn’t just about appearance, it’s about safety, hygiene and professionalism. A clean environment reduces the risk of illness, damage and accidents while making life much easier for your staff (and dogs!). Here are some key areas to focus on 👇 🐭 1. Food & Treat Storage It’s easy to forget a treat pouch or snack tub at the end of a long day but leaving food out overnight attracts rodents and insects. Once they find food, they’ll come back… and chew through anything to get to it. ✅ Always remove all treats, food and pouches at the end of the day. 🧺 Store everything in sealed, rodent-proof containers. 💸 Make staff aware that damaged items will need replacing — it helps build accountability. 🧹 2. Cleaning Equipment Dogs love to chew. Brooms, mops and buckets left out can become dangerous playthings. ✅ Always return equipment to secure storage after use. ⚠️ It’s not just about tidiness - it’s about preventing injuries and keeping the environment safe. 🧺 3. Laundry & Organisation Towels, bedding and blankets pile up quickly and when storage gets messy, it becomes stressful and unhygienic. ✅ Create a daily system: dirty → washed → pegged to dry → folded → stored. 🌬️ Use outdoor drying racks or fences on dry days to improve airflow and reduce damp smells. 🗂️ Keep storage areas organised and clear - messy corners invite clutter and bacteria. 💧 4. Floors & Structural Care If your daycare is in a converted barn, cabin or building with a wooden base, this one’s critical. Wet floors lead to rot and holes, which can be expensive and unsafe. ✅ Mop and dry properly at the end of each day. 💨 Keep good airflow in your building to help dry the area. 📦 5. Event & Storage Areas

🐾 A Little Lesson From the Fence Today Something interesting happened at daycare today that’s a great reminder of how dogs think and feel 💭 Two of our regulars were having a noisy little “conversation” through the fence - tails wagging, paws up, barking their hearts out at each other. But as soon as we opened the gate and let them meet properly… silence. Just sniffing, wagging and off they trotted together like best friends. This is what we call barrier frustration (or barrier aggression). It happens when a fence, gate or even a window stops dogs from greeting naturally. They can see each other but they can’t sniff or move freely to communicate. That blocked communication builds frustration, which often comes out as barking or excitement. Even if the fence is see-through, the feeling of being trapped or restricted is what causes the noise not necessarily what they can or can’t see. Once the barrier’s gone and they can interact normally, the tension disappears almost instantly. It’s a lovely reminder that most dogs aren’t being “naughty” when they bark at the fence they’re just trying to say hello in the only way they can 💛

🚀 Course Development Update! 🚀
I’ve been working hard on building The Ultimate Guide to Dog Daycare Group Management 🐾 It’s a resource designed to make daycare safer, calmer and more professional than ever. This isn’t just a course… it’s the result of years of knowledge and hands-on experience, brought together by me and our daycare manager @Naomi Pack . Together, we’re turning everything we’ve learned into a structured pack to improve daily processes, procedures, and staff training. This week I’ve added brand new modules on: ✨ Slow Integration ✨ Assessing New Dogs ✨ Energy Levels (and how they change throughout the day) ✨ Health Checks ✨ Client Feedback ✨ First Day Best Practices ✨ Different Dog Temperaments (High Energy, Neutral, Anxious) ✨ Splitting Dogs into Groups (and why they’re not fixed all day) ✨ One-to-One Sessions for High-Energy Dogs ✨ Staff Management & Wellness (with daily + weekly check-ins) ✨ Work Experience & Volunteer Task Competition ✨ Eregency Situations - Dog Fight Procedure & Restraint The course is still an ongoing project - we’ll keep adding more content, tools, and practical guides until it becomes the ultimate framework for running a safe, happy, and professional daycare. 📚 🐕💡 Stay tuned, there’s so much more to come! 🐾 A look inside our Dog Daycare 🐾
I thought it would be fun to give our DigiDoggers a peek inside the place where it all happens! 🐶 Zoomies Dog Daycare has been running for over 5 years now - a safe, enriching space where dogs can play, learn and relax while their owners work. Here’s a look inside our indoor play area, complete with colourful murals, enriching activities and plenty of room for group play. I started this business from scratch and it’s grown into a vibrant hub for dogs and their humans. 💛 I’ll be sharing more behind the scenes photos, tips and business insights here on DigiDogs so you can see how we run things day to day.
