Weekly briefing!💯🔥🚀
This week's briefing is here with fresh GLP-1 pill updates, muscle-saving habits, and FDA safety label changes. # Weekly Briefing: Aug 24, 2026 **TL;DR:** Foundayo oral pill remains the only no-restriction GLP-1 option, muscle protection comes down to protein + resistance, and FDA clarified suicide-risk language this year. ## 💊 GLP1 News ### New research & approvals On April 1, 2026, the FDA approved orforglipron (Foundayo, Lilly) for treating obesity or overweight with weight-related complications. It is the first small-molecule oral nonpeptide GLP-1 receptor agonist, and is described as the only GLP-1 pill for weight loss that can be taken any time of day without food or water restrictions. Foundayo follows Novo Nordisk's oral Wegovy, approved in December 2025 as the first oral GLP-1 for weight loss, making it the second pill option in the class. ### Weight management tips Two strategies stand out to prevent lean-mass loss: adequate protein and resistance training. Evidence tables list resistance training as preserving lean mass alongside adequate protein intake 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day to support muscle protein synthesis. Clinicians note “Exercise (particularly strength training) plays a critical role in preserving lean muscle mass while on GLP-1 medications”. Practical for your membership: 25-30g protein per meal spread through the day, 2-3 full-body strength sessions weekly, walk 10 minutes after eating. ### Side effects & safety On Jan 13, 2026, the FDA asked drugmakers to remove label warnings about potential risk of suicidal thoughts from GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, including Wegovy and Zepbound. The agency said its evaluation did not identify an increased risk of suicidal ideation or behavior with use. Separately, FDA added a class-wide counseling note about pulmonary aspiration risk during general anesthesia or deep sedation — tell any surgical team you are on a GLP-1, use only approved prescriptions, eat smaller slower meals, and stay hydrated. ## 💪 Mindset reminders to be strong and positive

How Glp1 meds work!❤️‍🔥
How GLP-1 Medicines Actually Work Your intestines naturally release a hormone called GLP-1 after you eat. It sends messages throughout your body saying: “Food has arrived. Manage the blood sugar—and we’ve had enough to eat.” Medicines such as Ozempic and Wegovy imitate this hormone, but remain active much longer. Mounjaro and Zepbound activate both GLP-1 and another hormone receptor called GIP. FDA prescribing information 🧠 In your brain They activate receptors involved in hunger and appetite. → You feel satisfied sooner → You stay satisfied longer → Cravings and “food noise” may quiet down → Smaller portions feel like enough They don’t remove your ability to eat. They make it easier for your brain to recognize when your body has received enough food. 🍽️ In your stomach They slow how quickly food leaves your stomach, especially after meals and often most noticeably early in treatment. → Food remains there longer → Fullness lasts longer → Blood sugar rises more gradually This can also cause nausea, constipation, diarrhea, reflux, or uncomfortable fullness—particularly when increasing the dose. 🩸 In your pancreas When blood sugar rises, the medicine helps your pancreas release more insulin. → Insulin moves glucose from the blood into cells → Blood sugar comes down more efficiently This response is largely glucose-dependent, meaning the medicine works harder when glucose is elevated and less when it is already low. Low blood sugar is therefore uncommon when a GLP-1 medicine is used alone, but the risk increases when combined with insulin or certain diabetes medicines. 🏭 In your liver It reduces inappropriate glucagon signaling. Glucagon normally tells the liver to release stored glucose. → The liver releases less unnecessary sugar → Blood glucose becomes steadier ⚖️ How this produces weight loss GLP-1 medicines do not melt fat directly. They change appetite, fullness, digestion, and blood-sugar regulation. Most people naturally consume fewer calories, so the body must use stored energy—including body fat—to make up the difference.
