New Ways to Track Movement
In a world where everything is app based, one of the best office challenges we had was when there was a piece of paper on the wall with all our aliases listed (i.e. Need for Speed, Wheels Up, etc.). Participants logged walking laps, stairs, and drinking water with a simple tic mark. It brought out a competitive nature in many of us. I went from doing the stairs zero times a day to upwards of thirty. Then, someone had the nifty idea to use one of the apps. The benefit? It connected people from different offices. Even people who are no longer with the company participate. The problem? Engagement decreases, some people don't want to be tracked, and more often than not, it becomes just another tool that sits and doesn't get used regularly. Although this isn't a replica of the original challenge we had, it is a representation of some of the challenges that can be created to make walking and movement fun again in the workplace.
