· Don’t treat it as an interview – you should have the mindset that it is a meeting between you and a client or a potential employer.
· Carry out some research about the company you are applying to, one of the questions you are likely to get is ‘tell me what you know about our company’.
· Download a copy of the job description, read and understand the job description in-depth. Have a look at the key requirement of the role, a vast majority do not read the job description.
· Prepare for the question ‘Tell me about yourself’ – this will be the first question you will get asked, so be prepared for this question as it gives you the confidence to set the pace. Use the SEAT strategy Skill, Experience, Achievement & Type of person you are.
· Make sure you have some questions lined up to ask the interviewer. It gives you a good chance to impress the hiring manager.
· Time keeping – arrive on time.
· Test your connection if it is an online interview.
· Your dress code – Blue is a good colour which signifies trust, calm & confidence which are great qualities to possess as a potential employee.
· Listen very carefully to the interview questions.
· Pause before answering the interview question.
· Clarify doubt if you don’t understand the question.
