How to master AI basics quickly

I’m currently taking an introductory AI course, and I have an exam in 3 days that includes coding labs. The topics we’ve covered so far include linear regression, logistic regression, and possibly PyTorch.

I want to know the best way to quickly master the coding part. I’ve been using ChatGPT to help explain concepts but I want to be able to write and understand the code myself without over-relying on AI tools.

How do you all approach learning these topics effectively? Do you repeat exercises until you memorize them, or do you focus on trying different examples and tweaking the code? Any tips or strategies for preparing for coding labs in such a short time?
