Happy Wednesday, legends đź’ˇ
Midweek reflection time. Let’s talk about communication — because how we explain things to our kids matters more than what we tell them to do.
Commands without context breed resistance. Kids don’t just want rules — they want reasons.
Instead of just saying “no” or “because I said so,” take 10 extra seconds to explain why. It builds respect, not rebellion.
Examples:
- “Clean your room” → “When your space is clear, you can find your stuff faster.”
- “No screens before bed” → “Screens trick your brain into staying awake.”
- “Put your shoes away” → “So no one trips — teamwork keeps the house calm.”
Example in action:
Daniel stopped barking orders and started giving reasons. His 8-year-old actually started explaining back why chores matter — that’s leadership developing right there.
