🧶 Block of the Week: Block 15 – The Bobble Stitch!
It's time for another new block in our **Crochet by the Block** blanket series! This week's featured block is **Block 15: The Bobble Stitch**—a fun, textured stitch that adds beautiful dimension and softness to your blanket. The raised bobbles create a cozy, eye-catching design that stands out while still being beginner-friendly once you get the rhythm. If you've never made a bobble stitch before, don't worry! I've created a step-by-step tutorial that walks you through the stitch using a simple practice swatch. Once you're comfortable, you can jump right into making your blanket block. 👇 This week's lessons: 🧶 **How to Do the Bobble Stitch** (Practice Swatch) ➡️ *[https://www.skool.com/crochet-by-the-block-5119/classroom/2092d142?md=1f5d57c2088943d29c8d8bb8598ac336]* 🧶 **Block 15: The Bobble Stitch** ➡️ *[https://www.skool.com/crochet-by-the-block-5119/classroom/2092d142?md=a8be58bc4d9e40369439f0a136904bbf]* As always, I'd love to see your progress! By The Block Blanket Process
Understanding the Block Style Blanket Process One of the most fun and creative ways to crochet a blanket is by making a block-style blanket. Instead of crocheting one large blanket all at once, a block blanket is created by making smaller individual crochet blocks and then sewing or joining them together using yarn. This makes crochet feel more manageable, flexible, and beginner-friendly. Each block in Crochet by the Block is designed to be just over 8" x 8". Once your blocks are completed, you can arrange them in many different ways to create a blanket that is completely unique to you. How a Block Blanket Works The process is simple: Crochet individual blocks Arrange the blocks into a layout you like Join the blocks together Add a border to finish the blanket That’s it! You can make your blanket as large or as small as you want by simply adding more blocks. Use One Stitch or Many One of the best parts about a block blanket is flexibility. You can: • Use the same stitch for every block • Mix multiple crochet stitches together • Combine textured blocks and simple blocks • Use solid colors or colorful layouts • Repeat your favorite patterns Some crocheters love the look of a blanket made from all one stitch pattern, while others enjoy mixing many different blocks together to create texture and variety. There is no right or wrong way to design your blanket. Blanket Size Options Because the blanket is made from individual blocks, you can easily customize the size. For example: • A few blocks can make a washcloth or small baby blanket • Medium-sized blankets may use 12–20 blocks • Larger afghans can use many more blocks You can continue adding blocks until your blanket reaches the size you want. Color Choices and Layouts You can use any colors or color combinations you enjoy. Some ideas include: • Solid color blankets • Checkerboard layouts • Diagonal color patterns • Ombre or gradient colors • Multi-colored yarn mixed with solids • Seasonal or themed color palettes

⭐ **Block 14 — Star Stitch** ⭐
This week’s Crochet by the Block stitch is the beautiful **Star Stitch!** The Star Stitch creates a gorgeous raised texture that looks like rows of tiny stars worked into your project. While it may look challenging at first, once you learn how each star connects to the next, you will find a relaxing rhythm as the pattern repeats. For our block, we are using a slightly modified version of the traditional Star Stitch. This version removes one of the loops normally used, making the stitch a little easier to work while still giving you that beautiful star design. As always, start with the practice lesson first so you can learn the stitch before moving on to the blanket block. ✨ **Start Here:** How To Do The Star Stitch ⭐ **Then Complete:** Block 14: Star Stitch Remember to take your time, keep your loops relaxed, and enjoy learning something new. I can’t wait to see your Star Stitch blocks!
