Using a latch hook to crochet becomes much easier for beginners if you create holes
as you go. I call these holes bridges.
Bridges can be created in two ways. Beginners use a small chain length and a slip stitch.
If you can already make traditional stitches you can use a half treble and a single
crochet to make these holes. Florence, 11 yrs, yesterday I showed her how to use a half
treble and a slip stitch when making her scarf.
Scarf detail: Florence made this at home without help adding rug stitches to the end and
flowers on the surface.
On several occasions Florence says I have created a new stitch, but she hasn’t been taught
Traditional stitches!
