So, in my experiences, intimacy does not always have to be considered the climax of your storyline. Sometimes intimacy can be the inciting action. After the introduction and the setting has been properly established, then you build your story so that the climax has a more memorable effect. Setting the bar just a little bit further each time will properly progress the whole story!
