Your Thumbnail Is More Important Than Your Video
You could write, record, edit and upload the best video in the world, but if your title and thumbnail don't convince people to click nobody will ever see your amazing content. Just like any product on the shelf at a store, packaging matters ALOT. There are 3 common mistakes most beginners make. 1. Adding their logo or name to the thumbnail. This is the fastest way for people to ignore your content. It's something that only new creators do and signals to the audience that the video is going to be low quality. Avoid this at all costs. 2. Using generic google images or AI images that aren't interesting and don't stand out. Many times new creators just slap something together and think that it's good enough after spending hours on creating the video. Ideally you want to do these things in reverse order. Concept a video idea, title and thumbnail that your target audience would find extremely interesting or compelling. THEN begin working up the script or format of the video. 3. Trying to be too clever with graphic design. People scrolling YouTube don't care about the intricate details and hidden secrets you might have put into your thumbnail. They're scrolling looking for something to grab their attention. You get 2-3 seconds if you're lucky to convince them to stop scrolling and click on your video. Make sure your thumbnail is simple, clear and clearly shows what the video is about in a way that resonates with your target audience.
