5 Ways to EARN INSTANT RESPECT in any Meeting (without saying much)
Most people think respect at work comes from talking more.
But the smartest leaders I’ve met do the exact opposite.
They don’t dominate the room.
They direct the energy in it.
Here’s how they do it 👇
1️⃣ Speak last, not first.
When you rush to share your opinion, you limit others’ thinking.
When you listen first, you lead with presence, not ego.
2️⃣ Ask clarifying questions.
Instead of reacting, get curious.
“Can you walk me through how you got to that conclusion?”
Curiosity signals confidence, not insecurity.
3️⃣ Acknowledge before you add.
Start with: “I liked what [Name] said about…”
It shows you’re listening and builds credibility before you contribute.
4️⃣ Don’t fill silence.
Silence isn’t awkward, it’s powerful.
Great leaders let ideas breathe. They know people think best when given space.
5️⃣ Own your tone and body language.
Sit tall. Speak calmly. Maintain steady eye contact.
Respect isn’t just earned by what you say, it’s felt in how you say it.
Respect isn’t demanded.
It’s created, moment by moment, meeting by meeting.
So the next time you walk into a room, remember:
You don’t have to speak the most to be remembered.
You just have to speak with intention.
Which of these do you naturally do in meetings?
If you want to build this kind of quiet respect in meetings, talk it through with Amit.👇
