Weekly Coffee & Chat is happening in 22 hours
Weekly Coffee and Chat 4th Apr 2026
This week I welcome new members @Liz Lemarchand and @Valarie Smith Then I talk a little bit about what I think this community should be all about. -Let me know if you agree, disagree or have some other idea altogether! 🤔 Then I talked through the upcoming bootcamp I am running for a small cohort of TEDx speakers, and how you can make some money by referring people interested in speaking at TEDx to this community. 😃 I stopped the camera then, but spent a delightful 45 minutes to @Cristal Vancarson who is also a member (I didn't record this conversation). Cristal is based in LA and has some fantastic stories of acting and modelling. She also does photography and I will be interviewing her next week for the Experts Resources where she will give you tips on your headshots and can even do headshots for you remotely. - I was an interesting experience! ❤️❤️❤️ Headshots below... what do you reckon?

Want TEDx Coaching?
This may be the last chance for a while. I currently have a couple of coaching slots for anyone doing a TED or similar talk. TEDxUoWaikato doesn't start until August, and after that, I will be busy coaching all of their speakers (last year they had 14 speakers 😅). The program I run over 60-90 days includes 4 workshops, access to online video training, and one-on-one coaching over Zoom. I am based in New Zealand. I coach over Zoom (even for local speakers), and I have coached people globally. Basically, the program looks like this: - We start with a 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 to get clear on your message and the intended outcome of the talk. This is the foundation that the rest of the program is built upon. - Then you will start working on your structure in preparation for the 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽. When working on this, you will have access to videos explaining certain concepts and one-on-one coaching as needed. At the 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, your progress will be evaluated and suggestions made. When they are implemented, and your Structure is 'signed off', you move to the next stage. - Here we shift gears and move from visual to auditory, as we prepare for the 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽. You will start memorising your talk and evaluating it auditorily rather than in the written form. You will have a few videos and one-on-one coaching as needed. Again, once you are signed off on the 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, we move on. - Finally, we are working towards the 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽. This is where we refine vocal variety, gestures, movement, any slides or props you might be using, and other aspects of performance. Again, supported by videos and one-on-one coaching as needed. - Once you have completed your 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, it is just a matter of practice until, ideally, a dress rehearsal on the actual stage the day before, or the morning before your event. As you can see, there is a significant commitment from both the speaker and me in this process. So I do not take clients without first having a chat to ensure that we both have the same level of commitment and are aligned.

This week we welcome new members: @Anna Tamurova @Dani Rosenblad James @Cristal Vancarson @Sammie Chaffin And I chat to @Jon Nabbs about his superman adventure running unsupported across Canada (among other adventures) and his intention to turn this into a speaking career. We talk about what is available in the community, what should our culture be? And Jon shares he is looking for someone to practice and chat with about his talk. I recommended Jon talk to @Orly Amor, and in a facepalm moment on camera, I realise I need to ask Orly to do an interview with me for the Expert Resources section... Doh! Watch the video, if you have any ideas or suggestions add them to the comments below. 😃

Weekly Coffee and Chat 28th Mar 2026
This week I welcomed new members: @Alice Green @Ben Woodgates @Jon Nabbs @Sina Summers. I did a quick tour of the site, showing you how to interact with one another, and how to access the new TEDx Speakers Bootcamp classroom, as well as the expert resources. I explained the paid membership program, what that means for you, for me, and for the future. 😉 I showed how you can invite people to the community, and how that can earn you a commission now or in the future. Then following on from the last Coffee and Chat, as promised, I talked about the Puzzle Theory of structure, Loops and Callbacks. There is a lot in here, I hope you enjoy.

Free Memberships and Paid Memberships
[Gulp - Big Breath] This was the plan all along, and to be honest I have been slow getting to this point. 𝐹𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 - Nothing changes for you right now. Free membership is exactly the same you get everything you have now. For as long as you want. Well actually that isn't entirely true, you do have one added benefit, if you introduce anyone to the community and they pay for a workshop or take on a paid membership you will be paid a 40% commission. This commission is paid directly by Skool. -𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑤. 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 - These will be on different aspects of preparing your talk. A free member can pay $150 for access to any of the workshops. Paid members will get 'free' access to these workshops. 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 - This is a premium membership. For the first 100 members this will be priced at $25/month (with a discount for annual memberships). After 100 members the price will be increased to $50/month, but founding members will stay at $25/month for as long as they keep the membership. These premium paid memberships will get access to the monthly workshops, and Premium Members Only virtual sessions to get their questions answered. 𝐕𝐈𝐏 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 - This is a bit different. I will be offering this from time-to-time. This will be a 90-day group training going through the exact training I take my TEDx Speakers through for TEDxUoWaikato. Including 1-on-1 coaching with me through those 90 days. These members will also get all the other benefits of paid membership. This program is charged at $1,500, with a year of paid access to the community. All prices quoted are in USD. 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬 - If you introduce anyone to this community and they become free members, and later take on any of these paid offerings you will get a 40% commission. For example if you become a Founding member and get two other people to join as founding members you will be recouping 80% of your membership each month. If you get three people to join you will actually make a profit every month.
