WIN!
I just published my first book in July. After doing two TV shows last week to promote it and one photo shoot, I just checked my KDP report and I added 68 sales!!! Yay!
Congratulations part 2 Tauranga!
Fantastic effort from everyone in part two of the event. I spoke to as many of the attendees as I could, and there was universal praise for all of the speakers, delight in the event itself, and a range of favourites. You should all be proud of your efforts, the results come from the work YOU put in. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be part of your journey. I encourage you all to practice your talk once a month for the next 6 months to keep your talk alive, and look for opportunities to use it in whole or in part, at events or opportunities. Your talk well get better the more you do it, and it would be a shame not to leverage all the work you put into it. And if you do get the opportunity to speak using some or all of your chunks, please take a photo and share it here in the WINS!!! to inspire the rest of us. Next year, don't be surprised if your get a call from me to ask you to speak to next year's speakers in one of the workshops. 😉
Congratulations part 2 Tauranga!
TEDxUoWaikato Part 1
The Hamilton event was a spectacular success tonight. I was proud of all the speakers and the work your had obviously put in. In fact I was most impressed with a comment from Raymond who was in the audience. I have attended perhaps a dozen TEDx events that I have not been involved in organising, Raymond has attended at least twice that number and has always been a straight shooter in his feedback. After the event he said he turned up expecting an academic performance, and was pleased to find that this was a TEDx performance from every speaker! I take that as high praise! Not a lecture in sight! 😃 Well done everyone! I am looking forward to Tauranga on Thursday. 😎

Misty Flicks Film Festival
I had a huge, tiring, yet fulfilling weekend helping run the Misty Flicks Film Festival in Te Awamutu. I spent approximately 35 hours either at the festival or travelling to/from it, over the weekend, Friday-Sunday. I got to meet some great filmmakers and film fans. I had the honour of facilitating a discussion on stage with 5 Feature filmmakers about funding their features. I facilitated the 'Pitch the Producers' session with 3 industry-recognised producers, hearing and giving feedback to filmmakers at the beginning of their filmmaking journey. The skill and level of the pitching have improved every year. Last year, a producer attached to one of the pitched projects, and I would be surprised if one of the pitches I heard doesn't also end up with a producer shortly! The Misty Flicks Challenge (my baby) got some great feedback, and I worked hard to promote it, and we already have entries for next year! The entries from last year were well received by the crowd, and the winner who travelled up from Wellington was well deserved.

Improv Combat: The Joke's on You
Our final show played at the Meteor theatre last night to a sell-out crowd. It was a great crowd too, they came prepared to laugh! I am adding this to the Wins category because it is a step out of my comfort zone everytime I take the stage for improv, trusting myself to come up with, and articulate something that makes sense and makes people laugh. Last night was tough because I wasn't really feeling it, with a number of other projects coming to a crescendo this week. But my performance was still pretty good. 😉 Although, I did let my team do the singing when we drew a musical challenge! They were awesome!
