One pattern I’ve noticed after spending time around freelancers is that the real challenge usually isn’t skill, It’s positioning.
Many talented freelancers end up working with clients who only think in terms of tasks and hourly work, which creates a constant cycle of chasing the next project just to keep income flowing.
But when you start attracting bigger clients, the dynamic changes completely.
Those clients aren’t just looking for someone to complete a task. They’re looking for someone who can solve problems, improve outcomes, and become part of the bigger picture of their business.
That’s where long-term relationships start forming.
And when that shift happens, everything feels different.
You stop spending most of your time searching for the next client, and start focusing more on delivering results and deepening partnerships.
Of course, getting to that point isn’t always simple. Many freelancers hit walls along the way whether it’s:
• finding the right type of clients
• communicating value instead of just services
• moving from project work to longer-term retainers
• or positioning themselves as a strategic partner
So I’m curious to hear from others here.
What’s the biggest challenge you’re facing right now when it comes to landing or keeping higher-value clients?
Is it attracting them in the first place, pricing your work, or turning one project into a long-term relationship? 👇
