Our first writing prompt. The "Anticipated Rush". This exercise uses simple observation to ground your mind and ease into writing about the up coming chaos of the holidays. The Writing Prompt: Your task is to write a short poem (no more than 15 lines) focused on a single sensory detail of the upcoming holiday season. 1. Choose One Sense: Pick one sense (Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, or Touch) that you most associate with the anticipated holiday season. 2. Find the Detail: Identify one specific, small detail related to that sense. 3. Focus Only on That Detail: Write your poem by exploring that single detail. Describe its texture, its memory, its movement, and what it promises, embody what the holidays bring and what it means for you. This is just a small exercise to get you writing and ground your mind amongst the chaos of this time of year. Happy writing folks, we cant wait to see what you come up with!
