Spring arrives
Spring arrives…. People airing out the homes after the winter cold.
Time to wash those blankets and comforters, hang them in the breeze to dry.
Everyone is cleaning windows, washing their car
It’s almost like a ritual, cleaning winter away
Farmers going to their plots, perhaps pulling out the last of the Leeks, Brussels, Shallots, Garlic
The Mirabelle trees (a tiny plum, extinct in America) are in full bloom, with their orange like scent
So many people garden. Even in the city it is common to have at least a herb garden
The “Bricco marts”, and Gamme vert are well stocked with pallets of earth
And the beginnings of the flowers and early vegetables
One thing I noticed is many cold weather crops are planted
It’s Easter season, like many countries and the stores are stocked with Belgian, Italian and French chocolate.
The main town here is Bourbonne le Bains, it is built on an inactive volcano, and there are natural hot springs and a large
facility open mid March until November. The population swells from 1500 to approx 2500.
The government health system pays 2/3 for two weeks of “treatments” including massage, hot mud, hydro therapy, acupuncture, etc.
The BnB, studio residences, hotels are beginning to open. Soon the amount of open stores on Grand Rue will spike.
There are quite a few “Thermal towns” in this area, and each has a casino…. https://www.natureetsourcechaude.com/carte-sources-eau-chaude-naturelles-france/
