I've been a busy bee this week! 🐝 Mostly buzzing away on other people's projects though instead of my own 😅
I tracked over 9hrs on a DFY client's project (Bundle Project Management) and reviewed the total hours I've worked on the project for the last 1.5 months.
If you're curious to know, these are the top 5 tasks that take the most time (so far) when hosting a bundle:
- Swipe Graphics - 5:01:02 (23.37% total time)
- Swipe Copy - 2:50:31 (13.24% total time)
- Mapping Out Sales Page Wireframe - 1:58:38 (9.21% total time)
- Writing Contributor Pitches - 1:32:03 (7.15% total time)
- Outreach Prospective Bundle Contributors - 1:00:59 (4.73% total time)
No surprise here that Swipe Copy and Graphics are what take the most time, basically anything design related (like the Sales Page) and copywriting (even with the help of ChatGPT) take the most time out of everything. But those damn swipe graphics better get used, is all I'm saying 🙈
It also tells me, as much as I enjoy designing graphics, at some point my time will be worth more than the effort it takes and at that point I will have to outsource that aspect - especially if I pick up more of these DFY projects (which I hope to).
But it is interesting that the next in line are collaboration outreach - I don't remember it taking that long 👀
The hours for this project haven't been all that intensive until the last week but we are definitely ramping up now.
I expect I'll average 10hrs a week on this project now until the Bundle launches in 3 weeks time and then maybe I'll drop back down to 3-5hrs a week, the following weeks of the project as we wrap up.
It's always so fascinating tracking your time, I used to do it a lot when I was an OBM (for obvious reasons) - but I think it's a good practice to get into when you're working on a specific project, like a launch or sales page design. So you can make decisions about what is important for you to spend your time on (and what you could delegate or maybe even delete). But I am a data nerd... So you know. I like to know this stuff!
