What was your biggest challenge when you began coaching or personal training? For me, the answer is too clear: imposter syndrome. Feel free to share how you overcame the challenge you selected, or if it still is a challenge, what you're doing now to get past it.

How Did You Start?
Good morning, everyone! Curious to hear your story: How did you become a coach or personal trainer? Was there a specific moment, role model, experience, or challenge that pushed you into coaching? What made you decide this was something you wanted to pursue? I became a CrossFit coach in 2018 and a personal trainer in 2025. What drew me in was realizing how impactful even a small piece of guidance is in helping someone improve. Seeing people gain confidence, move better, and grow has always been incredibly rewarding. A few people heavily influenced my path: my late mom, who encouraged me toward teaching; my first two CrossFit coaches; and my wife, who constantly reminded me that I was good at helping people. Today, I work with 10 clients across three gyms in SW Oklahoma City, and my goal is to continue growing as both a coach and professional through advanced certifications and expanding my impact. Above all, I want to channel my passion for fitness toward changing people's lives and helping them achieve functional independence and longevity through movement. Your turn — how did your coaching journey begin?
Welcome!
Hello, everyone! I’m Coach Moose. I started this community because I am equally passionate about coaching development as I am about fitness in general. Over the last 11 months, I leaned into progressing as a coach and personal trainer. There are so many eye-opening lessons I learned along the way. All of them reinforce one clear fact: coaching is both craft and profession. You don’t get better at one at the expense of the other. I hope you’ll join me as we exchange insights gained from our experiences as coaches and trainers, edify one another, and ultimately encourage the communities we serve. Just as we seek progress and not perfection in our roles as coaches and athletes, we will do the same here, and become 1% better than we were yesterday. Let the conversations begin!
