Reflection of last week!
What did you learn about yourself last week? Discipline. Patience. Sound. Confidence. Share your insight. Drop yours and read two others. For example: last week I learned that at times I struggle patience when learning new repertoire. But if I trust the process, the repertoire will be learned and performed. Drop yours below.
🚀 What keeps you coming back to the piano?
Practicing every day can feel like a grind — but there’s always a reason you keep showing up. Is it the sound of your favorite composer? The challenge of mastering a piece? Or just the peace you feel when you play? 👉 Share your “why” in the comments. Your answer might inspire somebody else to keep going this week.
Words of wisdom!
Hey Family! As I’m currently working on adding things to Cliffs Keys to Mastery to make it more engaging and a fun space to learn, I came up with the following thought…. “A pianists touch on the piano is his/hers unique artistic fingerprint”. That is exactly why I made the COPET method (Composer Oriented Piano Expression and Technique ) Method. This method is guaranteed to help you become one with piano technique, your piano repertoire you’re learning, and compositions you’re working on through the means of emotional storytelling. Let me know your thoughts below regarding this.
Every note you play tells on you!
🎭 “Every note you play tells on you.” Family! You can’t hide your emotions from your sound. That’s the beauty of the piano — it exposes the truth. What piece has revealed something about you you didn’t expect? I’ll go first: The first time I heard Liszt’s “Les Jeux d eau a la villa d este” I didn’t realize that playing at the highest registry of the piano with beautiful melodies in soft dynamic would make me teary eyed. This piece is so beautiful! Here is the link to it: https://youtu.be/2DoGOGS3lC8?si=1JfZBaCPxVNPAS0A Now it’s your turn 👇 What piece has revealed something about you, you didn’t expect? Name the piece and also post a link from YouTube so that others can listen to it too!
Technique is NOT about muscle — it’s about storytelling.
Good morning family! Here is a gem I want to share with you. Too many pianists think technique = drills. The truth? Technique is just the grammar of emotion. When you learn technique through COPET (Compeloser Oriented Piano Expression and Technique) Method every drill connects to a story or character in the music. 💭 Question for you: What piece has emotionally wrecked you the most — where you felt like it told your story? For me it is the Mazeppa by Franz Liszt.
