I'm Dan Cleary — a professional photographer, artist, author, and educator with 40+ years behind the camera. I hold an MFA in photography and teach as an adjunct professor at a local university.
Twenty years ago, a client called me to say he was retiring soon and heading out on an African safari. He'd taken photography in college and wanted a refresher. That led me to create an in-person class, Understanding Your Digital Camera: Seven Steps To Better Photography, which I've now taught to thousands of people over ten years. Dan Cleary Camera Coach brings it to a larger audience.
My goal is to take the mystery out of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, lenses, composition, and light — explained practically, so you can use it while you're out shooting.
You don't have to learn everything at once. Start with my free Take Your Camera Off Auto course. Then join the weekly challenges, post your photographs, and ask questions. I teach creativity using a camera.
