Grandma need to focus on working with one grandchild at a time
The grands are eager to help, but when Hampton and Sullivan come in from school, we really only have about 30 minutes to work together. Yesterday, while Campbell was still napping, I decided Hampton could wind yarn and Sullivan could help me with my tubes. Hampton was cracking up saying he was making a marshmallow. Sullivan was becoming frustrated while I was helping Hampton. My head started spinning, saying to Sullivan I will get to you as soon as I finish helping Hampton. When I started working with Sullivan I said I needed 10 rows of waste yarn, do you understand. He said he was tall enough and didn’t need to stand on the block. I asked are you sure, can you see? He said yes, so I said when you see the number 9 stop. Now Campbell is up from her nap and asks what is she going to work on. I say your first stop is the bathroom. When we come out I ask Sullivan how many rows do you have (I can tell it’s more than 10). He replies I see a 51. I say Sullivan that means you did 15 rows I told you I only needed 10. He looks so pitiful and says aw Grandma, I’m sorry! I say that’s alright because you were working with the yarn I really didn’t need. I let him start with another color, but I say we’ll work on something else. They ask what? I say reading the Stick Man book that Campbell and I picked up from the library. However, it’s too late, Daddy is finished working and ready to go home. We’re having a sleepover tomorrow, so just maybe we’ll have time for knitting. Campbell got in her one on one time today.
