Fourth of July we gather
We celebrate because the date matters
Those who declared our independence
Free to choose while others ride the fence
The flag waves as wind blows it free
Star Spangled Banner is sung loudly
Hamburgers and hot dogs the meal
Good old apple pie seals the deal
At the racetrack was our outing
Fireworks rung out colors shouting
People still setting them off tonight
Still celebrating fireworks still give light
Back to work again tomorrow
I will be traveling home heart of sorrow
Sad to say goodbye once again
Sad but pray we will look back remember when
We spent the fourth of July with each other
Next time you move come closer not further
