Freedom
Fourth of July we gather We celebrate because the date matters Those who declared our independence Free to choose while others ride the fence The flag waves as wind blows it free Star Spangled Banner is sung loudly Hamburgers and hot dogs the meal Good old apple pie seals the deal At the racetrack was our outing Fireworks rung out colors shouting People still setting them off tonight Still celebrating fireworks still give light Back to work again tomorrow I will be traveling home heart of sorrow Sad to say goodbye once again Sad but pray we will look back remember when We spent the fourth of July with each other Next time you move come closer not further CDK 7-5-26

The Power of the Pen
A hammer can build, A hammer can break, But a pen decides What history will make. It has ended wars Without drawing a blade, Lifted the broken, Built dreams from the frayed. It signs the birth Of a nation's law, Then sketches the wonder A child first saw. It writes, "I love you," Or whispers goodbye. It teaches us how, And asks us all why. It captures the voices The world tried to drown, Raises the forgotten, And tears kingdoms down. A sword may win A single day's fight, But the power of the pen Can rewrite the night. Ink has no muscles, No armor, no shield, Yet empires have fallen Because it refused to yield. So hold it with purpose. Write fearless. Write true. The next life it changes... May begin with you.

Challenge
Write a short story about your favorite vacation. You can only use five sentences. My favorite vacation was in Atlantic City, NC. Beautiful beach, beautiful home we stayed in, scary fire. Good fishing, ghost hunting, small water park, the aquarium, and good food and best company. @Stella Oglesby @Warean Sorrells

Story Challenge
Today wrote a short story about camping. You can use a real camping trip you have had or make up your own camping trip. Where are you going? What’s there? Are you camping in a tent or something else? My Camping Trip We went camping at the KOA at the Suwanee River. We stayed in a green tent. It rained. Thankfully, our tent didn’t leak. In the morning, we cooked bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast. Our toast was pan fried. We didn’t have a toaster. We used a camp stove to cook on. Then after breakfast clean up we went fishing. We caught some catfish and bass. We didn’t keep the fish. In the afternoon we went swimming in the pool. Later we built a fire. We roasted marshmallows.

Reading Jo
I will read Jo”s River Journey. We traveled and I didn’t expect the technical difficulties faced. I do apologize for the inconvenience. New reading time to be announced later.
