A safe, guided learning space for Christians who want to understand—and counter—Christian Nationalism with biblical truth.
Hello and welcome — I’m really glad you’re here. If you are like the thousands of people in our communities that I see comment every day, you are asking, "What on earth is happening?! And how did we get here?!" This series is designed to help you make sense of exactly that, and push back armored with the truth. If you’ve been quietly thinking “This doesn’t sound like Jesus — but what am I missing?”you’re in the right place. I hope you’ll join us for this much-needed conversation at this moment in our history.🤍 Most of you know me from my work with Christian Democrats of America, the Christians Against Hate community, and over a decade of writing, teaching, and media work focused on naming and challenging distortions of the Gospel by the Religious Right. Over the years, I’ve heard the same thing again and again from people in our communities: “I want to go deeper — but not on Facebook.” So I created Reclaiming Christianity as a small, guided learning community for Christians (and honestly, anyone) who are asking hard questions about faith in this political moment and want a thoughtful, respectful place to explore them. I’ve spent decades studying and bringing to light how Christianity has been distorted by those seeking political power. In this space, we’ll come together to name those distortions, going issue by issue to understand: - how Scripture has been manipulated - what the Bible actually says - how we can reconnect with the teachings of Jesus in a grounded, faithful way In our first series, Deconstructing Christian Nationalism, we’ll look at: - how we got here historically - the key players and movements working since the 1980s to establish a Christian Dominionist vision in the U.S. - how millions of evangelical Christians were shaped and mobilized behind a deeply un-Christlike political agenda - what we need to understand as we push back A few important notes about this space - This group is open to believers and non-believers alike. - Respect is required. No name-calling. No “they aren’t real Christians.” - The teaching will primarily come from a non-denominational, mainline Protestant perspective. - If you’re familiar with Christian Democrats of America, you’re already familiar with my theology and approach. You can also explore this more on the CDA website under our Platform pages. - This is a troll-free learning environment. Boundaries are part of what makes it safe.

No Meeting This Week + Structural Changes
Hello all - this week I am moving and unfortunately won't be able to hold a meeting tonight. We have also decided to make a few changes to the structure of our live meetings: Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reflecting carefully on the direction of this work. What has become clear is that this project needs to live inside something larger and more sustainable. I’m developing Deconstructing Christian Nationalism into a larger project that will be available as a podcast series, and I want the community component to be aligned with that ecosystem rather than running as a separate standalone group. Because of that, I’ll be closing this Skool space in its current form. This is not an ending of the conversation though, far from it! We are just restructuring to broaden the scope and reach more people. The live discussions and deeper engagement will continue, but they will move into the new membership structure connected to the podcast launch in the coming weeks. As founding members, you will receive complimentary access to the new community tier when it launches. You helped shape this from the beginning, and I want to honor that. I’ll share more details as soon as the new structure is ready and would still love to arrange another meeting or two with anyone who wants to continue talking about this topic and I would love to get your feedback on the podcast topics! Our conversations have meant so much to me and this team, it has truly opened my eyes personally to what is possible and the difference we can make. Thank you for being willing to step into something early and looking forward to continuing the conversation! Stay tuned! Christina
Tonight's meeting update
Hello everyone, just a reminder that we've switched the time to 7:00 p.m. Central starting tonight. You'll see that updated in the calendar in the group also. Tonight we will be doing things a bit different and reviewing the last two weeks and having a discussion time to dig into related topics or questions that we haven't gotten to in the last 2 weeks. Looking forward to seeing you!
Week Two Abortion Talk and Resources
I mentioned a few things at this week's discussion that I wanted to share and here they are! 1. Mrs. America: Based on a true story, "Mrs. America tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly, aka "the sweetheart of the silent majority." Through the eyes of the women of the era -- both Schlafly and second-wave feminists Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug and Jill Ruckelshaus -- the series explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the '70s helped give rise to the Moral Majority and forever shifted the political landscape." Available on Hulu and Disney+ free. 2. Old Testament abortion practice - Numbers 5:11–31. This ritual, involving "bitter water" that causes a woman's "thigh to fall" or "womb to miscarry" (in some translations), is a test for suspected adultery, not a direct command for abortion. 3. - Sis Simone Campbell speech at DNC (this is my pro-life stance!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgzQ5tjV_Fo And below is this week's talk in case you missed it. If you weren't able to be at the live meeting (or if you were!), please share your thoughts here for discussion. (please don't share video, it is unlisted and just for this group).

Week Two: Pro-Life/Pro-Choice Starting in One Hour!
Hope to see you all in about an hour for a discussion on the history of abortion and how the Religious Right managed to take an issue with little historical relevance for Christians to the "most important issue on the planet" in the last few decades! What DOES the Bible really say? Join in the calendar link!
