A safe, guided learning space for Christians who want to understand—and counter—Christian Nationalism with biblical truth.
Hello and welcome — I’m really glad you’re here. If you are like the thousands of people in our communities that I see comment every day, you are asking, "What on earth is happening?! And how did we get here?!" This series is designed to help you make sense of exactly that, and push back armored with the truth. If you’ve been quietly thinking “This doesn’t sound like Jesus — but what am I missing?”you’re in the right place. I hope you’ll join us for this much-needed conversation at this moment in our history.🤍 Most of you know me from my work with Christian Democrats of America, the Christians Against Hate community, and over a decade of writing, teaching, and media work focused on naming and challenging distortions of the Gospel by the Religious Right. Over the years, I’ve heard the same thing again and again from people in our communities: “I want to go deeper — but not on Facebook.” So I created Reclaiming Christianity as a small, guided learning community for Christians (and honestly, anyone) who are asking hard questions about faith in this political moment and want a thoughtful, respectful place to explore them. I’ve spent decades studying and bringing to light how Christianity has been distorted by those seeking political power. In this space, we’ll come together to name those distortions, going issue by issue to understand: - how Scripture has been manipulated - what the Bible actually says - how we can reconnect with the teachings of Jesus in a grounded, faithful way In our first series, Deconstructing Christian Nationalism, we’ll look at: - how we got here historically - the key players and movements working since the 1980s to establish a Christian Dominionist vision in the U.S. - how millions of evangelical Christians were shaped and mobilized behind a deeply un-Christlike political agenda - what we need to understand as we push back A few important notes about this space - This group is open to believers and non-believers alike. - Respect is required. No name-calling. No “they aren’t real Christians.” - The teaching will primarily come from a non-denominational, mainline Protestant perspective. - If you’re familiar with Christian Democrats of America, you’re already familiar with my theology and approach. You can also explore this more on the CDA website under our Platform pages. - This is a troll-free learning environment. Boundaries are part of what makes it safe.
