If your system suddenly goes quiet, distorted, or weird, 9 times out of 10 it’s a signal flow issue. The fastest way to fix it? Work the path step by step.
Here’s the checklist I use:
1️⃣ Source – Is the mic/instrument actually working? Swap it out if unsure.
2️⃣ Cable/DI – Test with a different cable or DI box (bad cables = sneaky culprits).
3️⃣ Mixer Input – Check gain, mute, routing. Make sure the channel is actually ON.
4️⃣ Processing/Bus – Is it assigned to the right mix, bus, or subgroup?
5️⃣ Outputs – Check the main L/R or mix bus isn’t muted or turned down.
6️⃣ Amps/Speakers – Last stop. Make sure power amps or powered speakers are on and connected.
⚡ Pro tip: Always move in order—source → destination. Don’t skip around, or you’ll miss the problem.
