The idea isn't to make light of God's judgment, but instead to breach a vital yet disagreeable subject by starting out humorously before letting the sugar coat wear off into seriousness by the end of the song.
New words:
That’s Gomorrah
(parody of “That’s Amore”).
Where the blue waters flow, and the crops always grow,
That’s Gomorrah.
Where you do what you like, whether wrong, whether right,
That’s Gomorrah.
Where you walk like you’re in a dream, but you find it’s not what it seems,
Oh Signora,
Where you wake up a little late, although you’d been warned of your fate,
That’s Gomorrah.
Where the one crazy guy warns of judgment on high,
That’s in Sodom.
Where they marry his daughters and deal with their father
In Sodom.
Where the men lose their sense of sight, fumbling in the dark sinful night,
They’ve forgotten
That to God they all should have turned; now their life of sin makes them burn.
That’s in Sodom.
Oh, the cities that burned, where the folks should have learned!
Poor Gomorrah!
God has mercy for all, but on Him they wouldn’t call,
In Sodom and Gomorrah!
Friend, wake up! Wake up; look around! Please don’t be like those sinful towns,
Oh Signora!
Jesus’ Blood surely will redeem if you turn your whole life to Him
From Gomorrah!
