Most of my students are in NYS, so, I am teaching virtually. A student who rarely engages in conversation told me his birthday is Monday 16th. NYS schools are closed next week. What is going on? Who will I see? What will I see?

This piece began as a word and became a surface for noticing. What shapes us is not always loud. It gathers slowly—through place, repetition, color, pressure, pause. Through what we look at often. Through what looks back. Sometimes shape is structure. Sometimes it is memory. Sometimes it is simply time doing its quiet work. This is the beginning.
