When your dog struggles with an issue, challenge yourself as well as guiding your dog through those challenges. It's very common when an owner has a dog that reacts to other dogs , they lean towards avoiding other dogs, to avoid the struggles the face in the reactive moments. This can be due to lack of knowledge on how to handle the issue, their own desire to avoid the embarrassment they feel in the chaos of the reactivity, or both. You may have your own reasons as well. Look at it from this angle, if you don't work towards helping your dog , and break down the walls creating obstacles for you, you'll always have a dog that lives in fear or lack of solid engagement and trust that you're in fact their protection and leader.
