Update - microbiome testing & book 💩📕
Hi warriors! 🥰 I just wanted to share two updates:
  1. I wrote an entire book on my cancer journey in 10 days thanks to the power of intense ketosis evoked by fasting, as well as daily meditation, gratitude and manifestation practices. Professor Seyfried’s college Dr Thomas Duraj wrote the foreword for it, which blew my mind. The reason I’m sharing this is not because I want people to buy my book, but to highlight the power of ketosis and meditation. We don’t need to be in perfect states of health and procrastinate our goals - we just need to take the first few steps, build momentum and reset dopamine receptors to make shit happen. I put off publishing it and sat on the final draft for a long time. Then when my ketones were SO high that they were no longer measurable on my KetoMojo, I leaped out of bed at 3am one morning. I gave myself 10 minutes to set up a simple landing page on Stan Store and uploaded the PDF. I let go of all the self-depreciation and OCD bullshit. If I can do it, anyone can do it. So whatever your “it” is - just fucking do it! 💪 💕
2. I did a microbiome test and found out I have a lot of bio-markers indicating gut issues. There is actually a network of naturopaths who work quietly in the integrative oncology space. I urge everyone living with cancer to do a test and get a GI map. My friend who interpreted the results referred me to another naturopath who takes on special cases - she had colorectal cancer and went from a vegan diet to meat-based. Currently there’s a lot of work being done on fecal microbiota transplant (FMT). It sounds gross and extreme, but it’s reversing many metabolic diseases. I didn’t know that most immune cells are in the gut and that dysbiosis and inflammation damages the epithelial cells and this probably leads to cancer (or at least has in my case). It’s so fucking obvious but I just didn’t take gut health that seriously. Interestingly some of my inflammation markers and the overpopulation of specific immune microbes (e.g. macrophages and neutrophils) show my T-cells are fighting the cancer - I haven’t fully destroyed them with all the drugs I take. Moving forward, I’m taking a chance and stopping ALL drugs and changing from a cytotoxic strategy to a healing strategy with the following goals:
  • increase my levels of galacto-oligosaccharides by getting off lactose-free dairy (lactose is the easiest way to get them, e.g. bifidobacteria)
  • take methylated folate as my folate levels are super low, but B12 is excellent (very strange!)
  • test my homocysteine levels and MTHFR gene variants
  • address macrocytosis-induced anemia
  • reduce levels of timethylamine due to risk of oxidation and increased inflammation
  • improve oral microbiome and eliminate high level of solobacterium in the gut (this shows bulimia is likely a risk factor for colorectal cancer - there shouldn’t be so many salivary microbes in my gut and my naturopath says oral-to-gut transmission is significantly enhanced in some disease states, e.g. colorectal cancers)
  • never eat in a stressed state - do vagus nerve stimulating activities like deep breathing
  • stop taking akkermansia - I thought it would be helpful due to research that it improves immunotherapy and chemotherapy responses, but my levels are way too high and just like antioxidants can backfire and lead to cancer progression, so can akkermansia.
I highly recommend everyone gets a GI map regardless of the cancer type. I have learned more in one hour than in a year from simply taking a dump in a cup! 🤣 💩
