MYTH#8: There’s No Support for Women in Construction—You’re On Your Own
The myth: Construction is a boys’ club. Women are isolated, unsupported, and likely to quit. Don’t expect mentorship or community.
Why It’s Busted: Female Mentorship Is Now Available (And Growing)
Research on women in construction identifies lack of female role models as a barrier: 48% of women report a lack of female role models. This is real. But it’s changing. Organizations like NAWIC, Women in Construction Week, and dedicated mentorship programs are expanding. We have a group called Women in Steel Capped Boots who are dedicated to support women coming into and staying in the Construction Industry
