Welcome to Build the Damn Business
Welcome to Build the Damn Business. This is a no-BS community for small business owners, service providers, local operators, side hustlers, and everyday entrepreneurs who are tired of guessing and ready to build something real. I’m Brett. I’ve owned, operated, and scaled several businesses over the years; including Stallion Movers, which generated millions in revenue during my time in business. I’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertising, training, wages, equipment, tools, systems, software, mistakes, experiments, and growth. I’ve hired people, trained crews, dealt with customers, handled complaints, managed cash flow, built offers, tested marketing, followed up on leads, created SOPs, and learned the hard way what actually works in the real world and what sounds good online but falls apart in practice. Now I’m sharing that experience here. This is not a guru hype group. This is not about pretending your logo, website, business cards, or perfect branding are the business. This is about the stuff that actually matters: Clear offers Paying customers Better pricing Lead generation Sales follow-up Simple systems SOPs Customer service Business operations AI tools used practically Real-world execution The goal is simple: Help you stop guessing, avoid expensive mistakes, and build a business with more clarity, structure, confidence, and momentum. Build the Business You Can Actually Run
Not every business model fits every life. I have hundreds of ideas every single day. I always have to "weigh it" and I've gotten good at figuring out just how to do that. Just like you have to weigh your options for what you want to eat, especially if you're on a diet, so too must your respect your time and realize that every decision made gets closer to the life that accompanies it. Some businesses need lots of staff. Some need inventory. Some need constant customer service. Some need ads. Some need vehicles. Some need a physical location. Some need you to be online daily. Some need high trust and personal relationships. Before you chase someone else’s business model, ask: Do I actually want to run this? Can I afford the costs? Do I want the staff? Do I want the calls? Do I want the inventory? Do I want the schedule? Do I want the pressure? Does this fit the life I am building? A business can make money and still be wrong for you. I can tell you from experience, there are absolutely things I WILL NOT do for money and I have had to turn down things be it bad customers, work because it was on the weekend, whatever. Life isn't ALL about the grind, it's about finding the balance that WORKS FOR YOU! Question: Are you building a business you actually want to run?

Your Customer Should Not Have to Figure Out How to Buy
A lot of businesses make buying too hard. The customer sees the offer, gets interested, and then has to figure out: Where do I click? Who do I message? What happens next? How much does it cost? Do I call or fill out a form? Will someone follow up? What information do they need from me? Confusion kills sales. Your customer path should be obvious. See the offer. Take the next step. Get a response .Understand the price. Know what happens next. Buy or book. Remove the friction or you won't get the sale! Question: Where is your customer path unclear right now?

Do Not Scale Chaos.... PLEASE!
More customers will not fix a broken business. More customers will expose the broken parts faster. If your pricing is wrong, more customers means more stress. If your follow-up is weak, more leads means more missed money. If your delivery process is messy, more jobs means more mistakes. If everything lives in your head, more growth means more pressure on you. Before you scale, ask: Is my offer clear? Is my pricing profitable? Is my customer path simple? Is follow-up happening? Is delivery repeatable? Are my basic systems documented? Do not scale chaos. Systemize first. When I was in the thick of it, I thought more money would solve my problems, but more money came more problems, I wasn't running the way I should have. I fought people on pricing, I didn't have the right people in the right places. I wasn't holding people accountable and when the time came, I had tough choices to make. I had to down-size and build it back the way that was structurally sound and created the life I wanted, not one of chaos, one of calm authority!
