When we first launched the Hood-Gi back in 2017, we wanted to do something special for the people who took a chance on us and bought a Hooded Gi from two random martial arts dorks on the internet.
We asked ourselves:
How epic would it be if the Hood-Gi came in packaging you actually wanted to keep?
What if it showed up in a slick computer bag… for free?
So that’s exactly what we did.
We launched the Gen-1 Hood-Gi with a free computer bag included. And because we had absolutely no idea what we were doing at the time, we sold our very first batch at a pretty steep loss…
But that didn’t stop us.
Sure, the free bag might have been a little over the top, but the people who bought it loved it and that mattered more to us than the margin.
From day one, we’ve believed in overdelivering.
We want you to feel like you got more than what you paid for. A quiet “thank you” in the form of a bonus, a detail, or something unexpected inside the package. That’s why our Kobo are wrapped in Tenugui, why the Hood-Gi comes in a drawstring bag, and why there’s almost always an extra surprise tucked inside your order.
As we head into the thick of 2026, we want to turn this up another notch.
We’ve been dreaming up new ideas for functional packaging and genuinely useful freebies. Things you’ll actually use, not stuff that ends up in a drawer.
So we want to hear from you:
What creative ideas do you have for functional packaging or valuable free gifts we could include with our products?
