I want to take full accountability for the miscommunication about Bro, Can We Talk? not meeting this morning. I didn’t communicate the cancellation, and I didn’t set up anyone to facilitate in my absence. That’s on me.
The truth is, I’ve been managing too much manually and mismanaged my time. Somewhere along the way, one of the most important recurring events on my calendar "Free Speech Fridays" was dropped. This can’t happen again. Free Speech Fridays has become a staple in our community, something we all look forward to and value deeply.
To ensure this doesn’t repeat, I’m implementing a 24-hour communication system that will do two things:
1. Give the designated facilitator up to 24 hours prior to the meeting to confirm they’ll lead and announce the discussion topic.
2. If a replacement facilitator is needed, both the original and replacement must confirm the handoff within that same window.
This structure will help keep our gatherings consistent, our transitions smooth, and our energy aligned. I’ll also be starting a community text thread so everyone has clearer access to upcoming schedules and updates.
I dropped the ball today, but I’m learning from it and building a stronger system to serve you better. I take this seriously because this community means too much to all of us.
Thank you for your patience, your grace, and your continued trust.
With respect,
Damon Austin
