Welcome to the community!
I am a recreational golfer coming back into the sport after a 12-year absence. I started playing this game before I was a teenager and like all recreational golfers, life got in the way. School, university, full time job, starting and growing a family, starting and growing a business and now retirement. Just like a beginner again, I went online to search for useful and practical tips to improve my game. After hours and hours watching "instructional" clips I have "realized" a few things. First is that there is no such thing as a "textbook" swing. How we swing the club is dictated by our age, body type and body dynamics. While knowing the fundamentals remain true, each of us have to develop the swing that works for us. Secondly, golf is as much a mental game as it is physical. You tube is flooded of the clips that tell us to "think this while doing this and that while doing that." Overthinking has caused me massive hooks and slices, topped fairway and iron shots, chunked chips and missed putts. I have managed to reduce those thoughts to the barest minimum that actually helped my game. I am not a single handicapper or a pro. I am just your average Joe who goes to the golf course to enjoy the game and the company of like-minded players. I've created this community to share what has helped my game and to learn from similar minded people. Would you like to join me in this journey? I'm from New Zealand. Tell me where you're from and about your favorite golf course.
