Easy, CUTE Holiday Bows!
I can’t tell you how many requests I get every year to make some bows for a tree, decor, a wreath, or family photos…. Everyone seems to think it’s some sort of special gift I have, but really anyone can do it!! Starting off with a yard of ribbon. •for decorating bows I suggest a wire edge ribbon •for accessory bows I suggest grosgrain ribbon The size is all your preference! Make sure you have your ribbon, a sewing needle, wax floss (yep, the kind you use on your teeth!), an iron, and aerosol hairspray. (Depending on if you’re going to be making a hair bow or a tree bow you’ll need a clip or a pipe cleaner too.) We’re going to take our ribbon, give about 6in of space from both ends, and fold them and crease them with the iron. Meet those two creases together, and iron another crease at the center of those. Fold again, to meet those creases together and iron another crease. When you open it up, there should be 4 creases! Here’s the “sneaky part” now we’re going to take the second crease, twist it to meet the first crease to where the creases line up! Hold them in place, and repeat! Next, take your sewing needle, with a 12 in piece of floss attached and weave it into the center of the ribbon where they come together in and out in and out 3 times. Do not pull it completely thru, and wrap the floss around the ribbon a few times, and then cinch them in firmly by gathering the center. Wrap a few more times, and then tie off the floss and trim. All you need to do now is trim your ends to your liking, and wrap a knot of ribbon around the center! Congratulations…. You now how a starting point on creating your own bows!!
