Students will learn who may prepare federal tax returns for compensation, how paid preparers must identify and conduct themselves, how to safeguard taxpayer information, and where their authority to represent a taxpayer begins and ends.

Master dependent and filing-status rules while learning how to identify and follow W-2, 1099 and self-employment income through a tax return. Students will work through real-world scenarios to determine who qualifies, what income must be reported, and where the money goes on Form 1040.
