Happy Sunday everyone!
Wanted to give everyone a full breakdown of our most profitable B-Stock truckload and show what it really looks like behind the scenes when you buy liquidation couches in bulk.
This load came in as an A/B grade pieces (Note: B-Stock has now since change the grade wording to New/Like New, Good, Fair Condition) in this case, I would categorize this as "Good" based on their new grading system. We had very minimal duds, but overall this one turned out solid.
A quick breakdown of the grading system by B-Stock:
New/Like New: If you ever check out the pictures in the auction you will see the products are all in boxes in the New/Like new condition. This pretty much guarantees you that they are new and untouched. Occasionally they will still be customer returns where a customer probably opened the box and decided its not for them.
Good: Floor models and customer returns.
Fair: Damaged and customer returns, but probably where they've had the pieces for 1+ year and decided to return it. Expect heavy usage and wear and tear.
Final note on grading: B-stock and whoever is grading them are inconsistent. Sometimes you'll see furniture pieces that are completely brand new with tags and end up in a "Fair" load. And more often than not, you'll see pieces that are heavily used/damaged and are included in a "Good" load and clearly should have been in a "Fair" load.
Most of the couches came in with very minimal damages (mostly shipping scuffs or light cleaning needed), every single one was fixable and cleanable. The key is documenting everything on arrival, cleaning fast, and listing with great photos the same day. In this case, we had already listed the Sereen days in advanced before the shipment came in as most of the Sereen's we get are 95% new w/ tags.
I have attached the manifest below, but here are the pieces that came in.
Item Description Qty
SEREEN MODULAR L BROWN - 7 Units
AUBREY LTHER PWR REC SECT - 1 Unit
OLIVER LTHR PWR RCLN SOFA - 2 Units
LANGDON FABRIC SECTIONAL - 1 Unit
ARIA SOFA CHAISE GRAY - 1 Unit
A total of 12 units. Normally we would never spend $8k+ on a shipment like this (our average is probably close to $6k per load) especially for only 12 units. We were willing to pay over $8,000 for this load mainly because of how many Sereen Cloud Sectionals as they’re one of our fastest-moving items. We consistently sell them for around $1,800 each, and they’re usually gone within just a few days. And not just that, every single item on this manifest is something we’ve already sold multiple times in the past. That means we already have all the product photos, copy, and pricing ready to go, which saves us a ton of time when listing and selling.
Each unit came out to $677 per unit (freight $ included) and were all sold within a week. Here's how much we sold each item for
SEREEN MODULAR L BROWN: $1800 x 7 = $12,600
AUBREY LTHER PWR REC SECT : $1800 x 1 = $1800
OLIVER LTHR PWR RCLN SOFA : $1400 x 1 (sold as a set) = $1400
LANGDON FABRIC SECTIONAL: $1000 x 1 = $1000
ARIA SOFA CHAISE GRAY: $700 x = $700
Total per unit: $677.43
💰 Total Cost: $8,129.17
💸 Total Sales: $17,500
📈 Total Profit: $9,370.83 (115.27% ROI)
We track every item through our Google Sheet Profit Tracker, so we always know exactly where our numbers are. That’s what lets us scale confidently instead of guessing.
The takeaway: not every load is perfect, but this one was damn near perfect. If they had these available every week, we will buy them all. With the right systems and quick turnaround, the profits add up fast.
