Journey Cakes & ๐Ÿณ
Fresh Johnny Cakes this morning. The Christmas gods came early! ๐Ÿฅฐ
It truly felt like a Belizean Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฟ
Fun fact: Back in the day, slaves in Belize carried journey cakes on long travels because they were simple, hearty, and didnโ€™t spoil. Made with flour, water, and sometimes coconut milk, they were easy to whip up and gave enough energy to push through hard days. These humble cakes tell a story of survival and have become a big part of our Belizean food traditions.
