ADHD & Being a Woman: It’s Not Just “Busy Brain”
ADHD in women is still so misunderstood. It’s not just about being forgetful or distracted. For many of us, it’s a constant dance between overthinking, people-pleasing, and feeling like we’re always “too much” and “not enough” at the same time.
We juggle careers, caring roles, relationships, and the invisible admin of life, all while masking the overwhelm, the emotional swings, the brain fog, and the exhaustion that comes with trying to keep up.
Add hormones into the mix, periods, pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause and ADHD symptoms can shift and spike in ways that aren’t often talked about. For some, it’s the hormonal changes of perimenopause or menopause that finally bring ADHD into focus, after years of feeling “different” but never having the words for it.
