Emptiness and Creativity For Inspiration!
The Other View on To do Lists…. One of the activities I keep going back to when I feel uninspired or unmotivated is just DELETING! Deleting People, UNNECESSARY family activities, invitations, cued youtube guru videos, cheap courses to go through, people to please etc. In many Eastern and unconventional ways of thinking, emptiness is not seen as something bad to be afraid of. Instead, it is like a blank canvas—a space full of possibilities. And yes that means staring at a blank piece of paper or wall whilst your entire being is screaming for that shot of distraction. Think about a room: its value comes from the open space inside it, not just from the walls that surround it. However, we often worry about emptiness, so we try to fill it with noise, clutter, and too much activity. We mistakenly think that being full means being productive, important and happy. When we clear things out starting with our brains or cleaning up our car or room, getting rid of old files on our devices, or letting go of heavy feelings—we create this open space. This space is both physical and mental. Just trying to "do more" often fills the empty spots with things we already know, like pouring concrete into a mold. But making space by getting rid of unnecessary things is a different process. It shows that we believe in our own ability to create new things, allowing unexpected and genuine ideas to come forward and this creates the basis for inspiration because the ideas are from within. This emptiness becomes a vital base for creativity, spontaneity, and simply existing, rather than always trying to achieve more. In the quiet that comes after we remove distractions, we can finally listen to our own thoughts (God). In the space we find after letting go of extra belongings, we discover the room to grow into who we are meant to be and that right there is fuel to keep going regardless.
