Welcome Home 🌿
If you're reading this, you made it — and that matters more than you probably realize. I'm Tanya, but most of you know me as Nurse Tanya. I've been a nurse since 2005, and for years I've watched the same story play out over and over: women who are told their labs are "normal," who are doing everything right on paper, and who still feel like a stranger in their own body. Tired. Foggy. Running on caffeine and willpower and calling it functioning. I built Awakened Wellness Community because I got tired of watching that story repeat itself without a real place for women to land. This isn't a course you buy and forget in a folder. It's not another feed to scroll past. This is home base — a place to actually be seen, ask questions, and grow, with me and with each other. If you're just getting started, the Five Day Fresh Recharge is your first step. Five days, one small shift at a time — no overwhelm, no 90-day plan you'll abandon by day ten. Just proof that you can follow through on something you start. From there, we keep going. Taste of Transformation. The Great Health Reset. Even a GLP-1 and Peptide Roundtable for anyone navigating those tools and wanting honest, real-world guidance — not just a prescription and a goodbye. I'm the bridge between mainstream medicine and holistic, integrative care. I've stood in both worlds, and I'm not here to make you choose a side. I'm here to help you actually feel like yourself again. So — introduce yourself below. Tell me what brought you here, what you're hoping to feel five days, five weeks, or five months from now. I read every single one. Welcome home. Let's get started. 🌿
Balance is always best
What if nutrition is a missing piece of your treatment plan? A prescription can help you feel better. But there’s another conversation I want us to have: Does your body have the nutrients it needs—and could your treatment change those needs? Getting adequate nutrition takes effort already. Busy schedules, limited food variety, digestive problems, and restrictive diets can make it harder. Then certain medications can affect how we absorb or use particular nutrients. That deserves attention. Without fear. Without shame. With a plan. There are two sides to this conversation. First: support the person taking the medication. Metformin is a good example. It can help manage blood sugar while also lowering vitamin B12 in some people, especially with longer use and higher doses. B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, tingling, and nerve problems. In someone with diabetes, those symptoms could be attributed to diabetes itself. Checking for a deficiency could reveal another contributor that needs attention. The medication may remain appropriate while B12 is replaced. (gov.uk) Long-term acid-suppressing medications offer another example. They can interfere with B12 absorption from food, and proton pump inhibitors can cause low magnesium in some people. That makes medication history part of a thoughtful nutrition assessment. (ods.od.nih.gov, ods.od.nih.gov) Second: ask whether a deficiency could be contributing to the original symptoms. Before we settle on an explanation for fatigue, restless legs, or changes in mood and concentration, nutrition deserves consideration. Here’s where that question becomes practical. “I’m exhausted, but I’m not anemic.” Low iron stores can exist before anemia develops. A randomized trial found that iron helped fatigue in some women who weren’t anemic, with benefit seen among those with lower iron stores. A normal hemoglobin doesn’t tell us everything about iron. And finding low iron should lead to another question: Why is it low? Heavy periods, inadequate intake, blood loss, and absorption problems deserve consideration. (bmj.com)

Take inventory
Before you add one more thing to your health routine, do this. 👇 Take inventory. When you want to feel better, it’s easy to start collecting solutions. Another supplement. Another protocol. Another morning routine that requires getting up an hour earlier. But when everything changes at once, how do you know what’s helping? And can you actually keep doing it? Here’s your 3-day Energy Audit. A notebook is all you need. 1. Notice how you start the day. Do you wake up feeling rested, rushed, or already behind? What happens before you’ve even had breakfast? 2. Track the middle. Write down when you eat, when your energy dips, and what your day is asking of you. Include the mental load: work, caregiving, constant notifications, saying yes when your schedule is already full. 3. Look at your evening. When does work actually stop? When do you put your phone down? How much room have you left to unwind? 4. Record what gives something back. A satisfying meal. A walk outside. A good conversation. Ten quiet minutes. An evening with no obligations. You’re looking for patterns—not grading yourself. After three days, finish these sentences: 📝 The biggest drain I noticed was ______. 📝 Something that helped was ______. 📝 One change I can realistically repeat this week is ______. Make that change specific. “Take better care of myself” is hard to act on. “Eat lunch away from my desk on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday” gives you something you can actually do. This won’t explain every symptom, but it gives you useful observations—and a clearer starting point for asking for support. Your assignment: Choose one small change. Practice it for a week. Notice what happens. What’s one thing in your week that consistently takes more energy than you’ve been acknowledging? —Nurse Tanya 💚

The ‘flu’ season.
Is it “flu season”… or energy-shift + detox season? 🍂 Every fall we hear the same thing: “It’s flu season.” But I think there’s a bigger conversation worth having. The days get shorter. We get less sunlight. Temperatures change. School starts. Stress ramps up. Sleep and routines shift. We spend more time indoors and around more people. And yes—our exposure to respiratory viruses increases. So maybe instead of simply accepting that fall = getting sick, we ask a better question: How well supported is your immune system going into the season? That’s why I want to talk about TA-1 (Thymosin Alpha-1). TA-1 is involved in immune regulation, particularly T-cell function. And what makes this conversation interesting isn’t simply “boosting” the immune system. Immune modulation and appropriate immune response matter. That distinction becomes especially important when we’re talking about people with autoimmune conditions or a history of cancer. Those are absolutely situations where I want the prescribing medical provider involved—not a DIY peptide experiment. But the bigger lesson applies to all of us: Your immune system isn’t something you should think about only after you’re sick. Nutrition. Sleep. Vitamin and mineral status. Stress. Movement. Metabolic health. Gut health. Sunlight and circadian rhythm—all help create the terrain your immune system has to work within. And peptides like TA-1 are opening up some fascinating conversations about what additional support can look like. 🍂 TA-1 is our Peptide of the Month — 20% off in September. If you’ve been curious about TA-1, drop TA1 below and let’s talk about whether it’s something worth discussing with the medical team. And YES—we can talk about the stuff here that gets watered down everywhere else. That’s exactly why I built this Skool community.https://elliemd.com/?bp=Nursetanya
