Calling all Educators and Exceptional Families
I remember taking this picture right after being yelled at by an administrator over something minor. I smiled through the moment because I refused to break down in front of my students. But internally, I kept asking myself: How can educators be expected to lead with emotional intelligence when they are constantly navigating emotionally unsafe environments themselves? 😞
At the time, I was teaching lessons on advocacy, self-awareness, and resilience while trying to survive in a workplace that lacked those very qualities. And although my students had disabilities, many of them carried incredible emotional depth, empathy, and awareness. They could feel the tension even when adults tried to hide it.
Educators cannot pour into students effectively while constantly operating in survival mode.
At AUTdacity 2 Learn, we believe supporting teachers’ mental and emotional wellness is not optional—it is essential. ❤️
