Welcome to The Studio, Creatives!
Yo, first off, glad you’re here. My name is Boxx. I’ve been a full-time creative since 2018 after only beginning my practice in 2016 teaching myself how to paint. I jumped off the porch early in the art world without a roadmap, background, or clear pathway. I just wanted to create and not lose myself in the process. I did lose myself for a bit. But I also learned. Over time, I found another lane: working smarter, not harder. That lane was grants, project proposals, pitches, and funded opportunities that allowed me to make work without compromising my creativity or relying only on selling pieces one-by-one. I don’t sell work (per se), I actually hate it. But, I do sell ideas and concepts, and then create freely with backed funding. I’ve been teaching this material for FREE since 2022 through trial and error, testing on myself first, then with artist friends & community. I've cleared over six-figures in grants not just for myself, but real artists in my community, artists that I've even invited to this community, and often bring onboard for paid opportunities when I'm getting new funding. In 2025 I’ve paid over $20,000 to artists in my city, including visual, performing, designers, organizers, teachers & more. That's separate from getting them their own funding, but paying them with the funding I received, writing them in my budgets. Eventually, the same funders that gave me funding began inviting me to review grants in 2023, so for the past three years I've learned ALOT in this game as a grant reviewer. I understand both sides of the court, but play for the home team. I’m a multidisciplinary artist, visual, music, writing, photography, film, but one of my favorite roles is sharing information. This program exists because people value what they invest in, and this allows me to keep sharing what I’ve learned sustainably. ✅To get started: Go to Classroom → Select your tier → Studio Sessions One, be sure to review the Creatives checklist, and meet me back here, I'd love to meet you.
