Day 5: A place to carry my grief.
Yesterday there was a goodbye dinner for my grandson who’s heading off to college. I had a moment of overwhelming sadness. That brings up the topic of grief and what in the world we are supposed to do with it. Creating this piece has helped me so much. I had been avoiding day five for some reason, I guess it was for the perfect timing of today. I started by tracing this picture of myself, and then I thought I was drawing a big box. It turned into a book and then finding these elements to add a little collage touch to it brought me so much joy. I am so grateful for this group and what I’m learning about releasing difficulty emotions through Art. Who knew? Thank you, Sana. ❤️

Day 4: Unmotivated or Low Mood
When unmotivated or in a low mood Today’s process was very interesting. I’m not used to using only two colors to create painting. The point of the exercise was that only a tiny effort forward is enough, and it’s important not to force or make too much effort when looking for motivation! I think my favorite part is the sun and the sky, but I found myself allowing for my inexperienced with using only two colors. Learning to be patient with the process has been such an eye-opener! I am also collecting encouraging phrases from magazines, and these two were just perfect for this piece! Thanks, Sana. ❤️

I took a watercolor class tonight
I am really proud of myself! I’m getting very free with experimenting with Art and after decades of self criticism and procrastination mixed with a heavy dose of perfectionism, I can really tell that I’m getting healed! Even though my picture did not look anything like the instructors, I liked it and that’s what makes me happy! The tutorial is recorded so I will be able to try it again! Sana, I just noticed that you have some instruction on flowers! I can’t wait to check them out! ❤️

Day 8: Burnout — Painting Live 🎨
Day 8: Burnout — Painting Live 🎨 This Sunday, 3pm Bahrain time, I'm going live on YouTube for Day 8 of the series — burnout. No script, no plan for what it'll look like. I'm just going to sit down, paint through it, and talk honestly about where I'm actually at with it right now. Come hang out in the chat while we create together.
